The Rebuild: Trading the Baconator for a Better Life

It’s been a minute, but the journey hasn’t stopped. In fact, it’s finally starting to feel like a real rebuild. For a long time, my “fuel” was whatever was fastest and heaviest. I was a regular at the drive-thru, and the on stream go-to move was the Wendy’s Triple Cheese Baconator Combo. That’s three patties, stacks of bacon, and a mountain of fries washed down with a large Vanilla Frosty. It tasted like comfort in the moment, but it felt like a lead weight on my soul and my health.

That version of me is officially in the rearview mirror. No more fast food. No more soda pop. And most importantly, no more alcohol. Cleaning up the toxins was the first step; now, I’m focused on what I’m actually putting into my body to sustain this new life.

Real Food, Real Fuel

My diet has shifted entirely to whole foods. I’m not starving myself; I’m just finally eating things that actually grow or live in the real world. My meals are built around high-quality protein:

  • Steak, Chicken, and Pork: Keeping it simple and satisfying.
  • Smoked Salmon: A new favorite for those healthy fats and high protein.

My first meal of the day has become a ritual. Instead of grease, I’m reaching for Oikos Triple Zero blended Greek yogurt. I load it up with fresh blackberries, blueberries, or strawberries. It’s sweet, it’s filling, and it doesn’t leave me crashing two hours later.

Scaling Up (Literally)

While the food is the foundation, I’m getting serious about the data behind this transformation. I realized that to stay accountable to myself and to all of you, I need to see the numbers—not just the weight on the scale, but what’s happening inside my body.

I have some heavy hitters arriving later this week that are going to be game-changers for my tracking:

  • A new smart scale to track body composition beyond just the pounds.
  • An ultra-rugged smartwatch to monitor my heart, sleep, and activity 24/7.
A high-resolution graphic showing the six different data screens of the Withings Body Smart scale, including weight trends, body fat percentage, muscle mass, and heart rate.
One weigh-in, six deep insights. Here is a look at what my new scale tracks every morning.

I’m not going to give away all the details just yet, but I’ll be filming a full unboxing and setup video as soon as they land. I want to show you exactly how I’m using this tech to stay on track and how you can join me in the data-driven side of this rebuild.

The goal is simple: Better choices today than I made yesterday.

Stay tuned for the video later this week. We’re just getting started.
